Learning and Living

We can transplant a heart into a new donor; but are confused on most affairs of the heart.  We see geese fly south for winter; but we often are lost in the direction our lives.  We see schools of fish, packs of dogs, flocks of birds; but forget that we too have strength in numbers.  We are taught how to form sentences; but depend on texting and emailing rather person to person communication.

"Be the leading actor/actress in your own life story, not the supporting role."  You are responsible for your own life, your own happiness, your own life story.

Songs that say something

“Welcome tothe planet earth
Welcome tothe heroes fall
This is athing called birth
Theforgetting you knew it all
This iscalled your first step
This iscalled your first time
This iscalled your first break
The one thatlocks your mind

Sacred Space

Tuesday-Mind Body Spirit

Sacred Space can be as small as the breath taken during silent time or as vast as an ocean or forest view.  Do you have a “sacred space” that you can go to when you are ready to be still, be centered, be healthy?  My home space includes a chime, nails, rocks, a crystal, cross, bibles, palms, prayer stone, oil, and, candles.  My space brings me healing, comfort, connection, and warmth.

A Closer Walk (and Podcast)

Living life isn’t about just one theme or one topic is it?  It is about believing, knowing, learning, getting through it, it is about a closer walk with ourselves, it is about a closer walk with the scared.  As the song goes: “…keep me from all wrong; I’ll be satisfied as long as I walk, let me walk close to Thee.  Just a closer walk with Thee”  How close to do you walk?

Got Smile?

“What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but, scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.”  GOT SMILE?  Good, share them! J

The Day

“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world.  This makes it hard to plan the day.”  I understand that life is often difficult, not fair and requires a great deal of effort at times.  I understand that life is often beautiful, rewarding and allows me to experience so many great things.  I understand that I will get out of the day, what I put into it.

Keeping connected

Get out from behind your TV, handheld devise, or computer screen. Screens have their place but they will never replace or have the same effect as eye contact, a smile or that personal touch. Communication is a largely nonverbal experience that requires you to be in direct contact with other people, so don’t neglect your real-world relationships in favor of virtual interaction.

Spend time daily, face-to-face, with people you like. Make spending time with people you enjoy a priority. Choose friends, neighbors, colleagues, and family members who are upbeat, positive, and interested in you. Take time to inquire about them!

Volunteer. Doing something that helps others has a beneficial effect on how you feel about yourself. The meaning and purpose you find in helping others will enrich and expand your life. There is no limit to the individual and group volunteer opportunities you can explore. Schools, churches, nonprofits, and charitable organization of all sorts depend on volunteers for their survival.

Be a joiner. Join networking, social action, conservation, and special interest groups that meet on a regular basis. These groups offer wonderful opportunities for finding people with common interests – people you like being with who are potential friends.
You ARE the author of your own life story...  what are YOU writing?

Peace

“Fundamentalism as it is called is not confined to the Muslim world. It is something that we have seen in different parts of the world. Let us hope that a dialogue between the followers of the three great monotheistic religions could help in putting an end to this.” King Hussein I.  (A great reminder that when we point our finger at someone else, there are three fingers pointing back at us!)

The B Word

I know the “B” word can be like fingernails on the chalk board, but you can get past “budget” burnout!  Everyone else spends money like mad and you are scraping to save what seems to be like pennies, it is enough to make you want to throw in the towel.  Remember why you are saving!  Put a small goal-chart card in your wallet so you are reminded every time you spend, it is a good reminder “debt free is for me”

One Person

Today I am reminded of the parable when Jesus asked “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and you lose one.  Do you not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until you find it?”  For many personal deep relationships and commitment are not common these days.  If one friend goes away another will take his/her place.  If you fell out of sight would you want someone to look for you?

In this parable, when you found your one lost sheep you would call your friends and neighbors and together and say “rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.”  There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

No perhaps I didn’t interpret that as every other Pastor will or does.  For those who practice Christianity, it should resonate with you to know that God is watching out for YOU.  Don’t worry about what he thinks of the masses, focus on YOUR relationship with him and how you live your life according to his teachings.

For those whom do not have a Christian belief, I submit that this parable speaks to you about YOUR relationships with family members (chosen family and given), neighbors, co-works and friends.  If you have lost contact with one or are not in right relationship with one it IS important to seek them out and mend that relationship.  Reconciliation is rewarding, powerful and an awesome experience.

“Would you pray with me…  Heavenly Father we come before you today thanking you for the air we breathe, the water we drink, the fire that keeps us warm and ground upon which we live.  Through you we know that all things are possible.  You love, your life and you light lead the way for us to follow your lessons that allow us the possibility to make life on earth as it is in Heaven.  As you give us our daily bread, help us to be reminded that as we share what we are given it will come back to us seven times.  In the name of our Parent, The Son and The Holy Spirit, Amen.”

Life Quotes for 9/11/2010

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

I offer a moment of silence for those who died 9/11/2001 and those whom their lives in the name of peace, freedom & defense since.

May the Sacred continue to bless our nation with peace, safety & love; and may we have the courage to follow that lesson in our daily lives.

Smiling is...

Smiling is infectious you catch it like the flu, when someone smiled at me today I started smiling too. I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin, when they smiled I realized I'd passed it on to them. I thought about that smile, and realized its worth; a single smile just like mine could travel round the globe. So let’s start an epidemic quick and quickly infect all on earth. Pass it on.
