2013 Week 36

Each Sunday I share a photo and word that represents what I am grateful for and brief message.

GRATEFUL WORD:
Omaha.  Some describe Omaha as a liberal city in an ultra conservative state.  I think if we really break it down, it might be something like this... A progressive, modern, and inclusive city in a state that is homophobic, divisive, and close-minded.

I know that for some, those words a bit harsh.  In my 45 years of life, they are accurate.  As a pastor, I see first hand how harmful Nebraska's law's and policies are for same sex individuals, couples and families.  I see how ignorance from those who live outside the urban areas hurt others at family gatherings, funerals and weddings.

This is 2013 America!  Stop fighting each other!  Start fighting FOR each other!  Make peace, not war.  Share words of peace, love and compassion.

2013 Week 35

Each Sunday I share a photo and word that represents what I am grateful for and brief message.

GRATEFUL WORD:
Right-Relationship.
I am grateful for being in right-relationship with my best friend, my partner... my husband.  I teach that communication, commitment and compromise are the keys to all relationships, just as mine must be (and is!)

We just experienced a 5 day camping trip with 2 other couples.  This was not "easy street" camping with AC Camper or cabin with electricity; this was tent camping, with a 2am storm WITH raccoon's!

This trip was in every way a much needed retreat to reset my mind, body and spirit.  I look forward to our annual trip in 2014.

2013 Week 34

Each Sunday I share a photo and word that represents what I am grateful for and brief message.

GRATEFUL WORD:
Pioneer.

Jose Sarria died this week at the age 90.  Jose founded the International Imperial Court System.  An organization that is responsible for raising tens of millions of dollars for charities since the late sixties.  Jose was a pioneer in LGBT rights and taught many to be responsible with those rights!  Jose was a friend of mine.  I will miss his visits on the phone.  And will always cherish such fond memories.

2013 Week 33

Each Sunday I share a photo and word that represents what I am grateful for and brief message.

GRATEFUL WORD:
Witness

2013 Week photo:

I drove to Wisconsin this week to officiate a wedding ceremony.  I believe that witnessing is participating.  Although I officiated, I also was a witness.  A witness to see how this couple interacted with family, friends, their children, under stress, when relieved, when emotional, just being human!

I enjoy watching people.  I enjoy being a witness.  In how we drive, how we talk, how we act, how we learn, how we communicate, how we use words when we are angry, how we treat others.  How we are human!

I hope I apply what I learn to my daily life.  Always striving to be the best me possible.

Happy Sunday!

2013 Week 32

Each Sunday I share a photo and word that represents what I am grateful for and brief message.

GRATEFUL WORD:
COMMUNITY
I could have easily chosen the word love.  Community will work this week too.  I got a call from a man whose partner had just been diagnosed with a terminal health issue.  They wanted to get married and insure that federal benefits would be in place since that now can happen if they are legally married!  They traveled to Council Bluffs and got married.  I asked for help for two witnesses who would also donate their time.  And I found two angels... Tina and Nellie.  When the ceremony and signing of documents was done they went to pay.  I said this ceremony, my services and these witnesses are a gift.  Go forth and share love, live life with love and be happy. We all new in that very sacred moment that it was a moment of great love and great community.  Taking care of one another.  AMEN!

2013 Week 31

Each Sunday I share a photo and word that represents what I am grateful for and brief message.

GRATEFUL WORD:
FRIENDS.  I attended a local charity fundraiser and several friends joined me without me knowing they would be attending.  It was a small group and almost $300 was raised for a local pantry that serves thousands of folks without food.  It was a great night.  And I was pleased that I am surrounded by people who support me in making this a better world!

2013 Week 30

Each Sunday I share a photo and word that represents what I am grateful for and brief message.

GRATEFUL WORD:
Home.  I have rented the house we are living in for almost 6 years.  When I first moved in there was no grass on the South side of the house, and the house needed a bit of love here and there.  Today, the back yard is fenced in, the back porch room has been painted and new screen and we have lots of outside furniture.  Inside it is a bit of a jungle.  All in all, it IS not just a house we live in, it IS our home.  A home we share with family, friends and those whom we like to be around.  I am thankful and grateful for the resources for us to have this as our home.

ABOUT THE BLOGGER:
Royal D. In 2009, Royal founded Inclusive Life Pastoral Services; a Nebraska, nonprofit, multifaith based organization that offers care and services to individuals, couples and families who are not a part of church, organized religion, or have a religious belief.  He is ordained and serves as a Chaplain.  Inclusive Life serves all without exception, religious and nonreligious.  He continues to share his belief and message that “You are beautiful, you are loved and you are worthy, just the way you are.  You are not alone.”

In 2012 he married his partner of five years, Jonathan.  They share a home in the Dundee area of Omaha.  Today, Royal is a member and attends service at the First Unitarian Church of Omaha.  He currently is working on two projects: A 2 hour “You Retreat” that will be offered monthly, at no charge!  It will focus on allowing people to experience themselves in ways perhaps not experienced before or often.  And secondly, he is studying and training for knowledge with Aromatherapy and Essential Oils.

Fierce Protection for Home & Health with Thieves Products
In this day, when dangerous diseases and virulent viruses challenge our health from all sides, it is imperative that we build a "Zone of Protection" around home and family. I imagine that Zone as a force field so strong that viruses, bacteria, and sickness bounce off harmlessly. It protects me everywhere I go, because I use the Thieves Family of Products. This collection of home and personal care products from Young Living will boost your immune system and reduce the spread of germs. This newsletter shows many of the Thieves products that Young Living customers depend on to create their own Essential Zones of Protection. You can too-at work, when traveling-wherever you go. But first, let me tell you the story of Thieves.

How Thieves™ Came to Young Living
Young Living's Thieves essential oil blend was created based on the historical tale of a band of thieves in 15th century France. These men, who may have been spice merchants, successfully avoided contracting the plague by rubbing themselves with cloves, rosemary, cinnamon and other aromatics on their bodies before robbing their victims.₁ After researching numerous stories written about these robbers and other medieval texts, D. Gary Young developed the formula now known as Thieves essential oil blend. And now, today's scientists confirm that the same essential oils the robbers used are powerful antimicrobial agents.

Hundreds of Scientific Reports Confirm Antimicrobial Action of Essential Oils in Thieves Blend
"In recent years (1987-2001) a large number of essential oils and their constituents have been investigated for their antimicrobial properties... in more than 500 reports. Essential oils of spices and herbs (Thyme, Oregano, Mint, Cinnamon, Sage, and Clove) were found to possess the strongest antimicrobial properties among the many tested.₂

Thieves Blend™ was found to have a 99.6 percent kill rate against airborne bacteria, during rigorous testing at Weber State University, Ogden, Utah.₃

When Ancient Tradition Links with Modern Society: Thieves™ Blend
Fast forward - 20th century, Young Living Essential Oils begins testing Thieves™ Blend, a proprietary combination of cinnamon, clove and rosemary essential oils for its potent antimicrobial properties. Now the power of Thieves can be found in over a dozen products, from toothpaste and mouthwash to cleaning products, hand soaps and even throat lozenges. The Thieves Family of Products offers safe, natural alternatives to toxic, mass-marketed personal and home care products. Read on for quick tips on using the personal care products at home or on the go.

Thieves™ Blend Product Line: Boost Immune System - Naturally.
In the morning and at bedtime, apply 1-2 drops of Thieves to the soles of your feet. Then, cup hands around your nose and inhale deeply for 2-3 minutes.
Thieves™ Blend is so effective and popular - that there is an entire line of germ fighting products to choose from: Sore Throat Lozenges; Household Cleanser; Bar Soap; Foaming Hand Soap, Toothpaste; and Mouthwash.

Kill Germs that Cause Bad Breath, Gum Disease
Clean teeth, fresh mouth, no harsh abrasives or alcohol are reasons you'll like all three Dentarome toothpastes and Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash. However, what you'll appreciate is that they deliver Thieves oil directly to the gumline. According to periodontist Robert Hoskyns, DMD, "certain essential oils kill the bacteria around the gumline which cause gingivitis and periodontal disease. The essential oils' primary benefit to patients is the acceleration of gum healing and shrinkage due to their antibacterial action.'

Now you can begin your Zone of Protection, with help from the Thieves Family. To get started today, try the Thieves Rewards Pack. You'll stock up at great savings.

Omaha Essential Oils

SAFE.  NON-TOXIC.  NATURAL
DO IT YOURSELF BUG SPRAY

April showers bring May flowers! Spring is also the time when insects and bugs begin to multiply at astounding levels and pester any early evening plans in the fresh air. If you’re anything like me, then you are also certain that mosquitoes and other biting insects are out to get you and may keep you indoors instead of enjoying the pleasant weather outside.
Bugs should not keep us from a walk around the park or neighborhood, a relaxing getaway at your favorite fishing hole, or enjoying a barbecue with family and friends. Before you get to the point of banishing yourself indoors, try this all-natural approach to a safe and hazard-free bug spray with 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils from the World Leader in Essential Oils®.
ITEMS NEEDED:
• Spray bottle, 8 oz.
• Distilled water, 4 oz.
• Unscented witch hazel, 4 oz.
• Thieves® essential oil blend
• Purification® essential oil blend
• Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil
• Citronella essential oil
• Lavender essential oil
• Lemon essential oil
• Peppermint essential oil
• Idaho tansy essential oil
Preparation:
• Fill an 8-oz. spray bottle with 4 oz. of distilled water
• Add 4 oz. of witch hazel
• Add 10 drops of Thieves, Purification, and Melaleuca alternifolia essential oils
• Add 5 drops of lemon, lavender, peppermint, Idaho tansy, and citronella essential oils
• Shake well before each use and spray a light layer on skin and clothing
This natural alternative to toxic store-bought bug sprays will keep you free from chemicals and other unnatural ingredients—not to mention the pleasant aroma that will be with you as you enjoy the nature around you.
However, if by chance you find yourself outside without bug spray, Purification is an amazing after-bite reliever that minimizes itching and redness, so be sure to keep some handy wherever you go.

2013 Week 28

I am sharing one photo each week and one word that represents what I am grateful for.

GRATEFUL WORD:
FAMILY.  Family is given and it is chosen.  Each have their unique beauty, challenges and rewards.  We gathered to celebrate the birthday of a member of our family and it was so great to see 18 unique people gather in community for a night to celebrate, focus and love one person.  Family is awe inspiring.

Omaha Essential Oils

Each Wednesday I share information and updates about Aromatherapy, Omaha Essential Oils, and Meditation that is offered with Omaha Essential Oils at Inclusive Life (37th and Leavenworth.)

An easy check of many sites, books and references each reveals a similar answer:  Essential oils are concentrated hydrophobic liquids containing volatile aroma compounds from plants.  Oil is "essential" in the sense that it carries a distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant (much like blood is to humans.)

It is important to know that there are three grades of Essential Oils; Therapeutic, Perfume, and Food grade.  Most of what you would find in retail health food stores, retail stores and shops is perfume or food grade oils.  They will not offer the same results, benefits or aromatherapy as Therapeutic grade oils.

Young Living is the only company in the United States that produces therapeutic grade oils from seed to seal.  They own 7 farms in 3 countries and distill and package the oils and products themselves.

I would like to share our latest three uses for essential oils.  1) last week Jonathan was in the alley cleaning up weeds and got into some poison ivy/oak (not sure) within minutes his arm swelled, was read, and painful and itched.  Normally we would apply calamine lotion and wait a several days.  I instantly grabbed the Lavender Essential Oil and applied it.  Within a minute or two you could see a noticeable difference.  Two more applications (later that night, and the next morning) and his arm was back to normal.  I felt good about using a natural, safe, non-toxic remedy that worked!

I had developed a cough on my way back from my trip, I think I picked up a summer-cold.  I was coughing and wheezing, and not sleeping.  I used a table spoon of honey and mixed it with peppermint, lemon, orange and frankincense.  Two more doses and my cough was gone and so was my cold.

Lavender has helped me sleep better. For the last year I have not slept through the night. I always get up at 2-3am and stay up for hours.  After using lavender I sleep right through the night.  If I do get up to use the restroom I fall right back asleep.  Again, a toxic-drug-free way to get rest feel better, and treat my body with respect.

Join me each month (beginning in July) as Omaha Essential Oils at Inclusive Life, Offers Information Café!  A chance for you to learn, ask questions and experiment with the oils yourself.  The first one is scheduled for the last Sunday of July at 2pm.  3622 Leavenworth.  There is NO cost and NO obligation for this FREE Café!  FREE Zyto Compass Health Assessment Scans will be available at the July Café.

2013 Week 27

I am sharing one photo each week and one word that represents what I am grateful for.

GRATEFUL WORD: PEACE
Watching the wildlife in the lake was a bit mesmerizing for me.  I got lost watching each little one duck under for food, larger ones disappear for several seconds while going to the bottom.  All of them looking out for one another.  It reminded me of how quickly we can get lost when we let ourselves!  No phones, no schedule, no agenda... just peace.  Peace.  Pass it forward!

Oil is "essential" in the sense that it carries a distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant (much like blood is to humans.)  It is important to know that there are three grades of Essential Oils; Therapeutic, Perfume, and Food grade.

The sense of smell and of taste are key to successful weight management. Slique™ Essential Oil Blend, with its exotic aroma and enticing citrus flavors, appeals to both senses and provides health benefits when added to the Slique™ Tea. But it is the individual oils contained within Slique™ Essence that, by their nature, promote the release of unwanted pounds.

The Citrus Oils of Slique™ Essence. The juice from citrus fruit is beneficial in ways that differ from the oil of the citrus. Citrus oils are not distilled from the pulp, but from the zest (peel) of the fruit. In addition to alkalizing the body, the citrus oils can also be used in massage for releasing petrochemicals from fat cells and removing unwanted cellulite. Slique™ Essence Blend contains a variety of Young Living's therapeutic grade, Kosher-certified citrus oils:

Grapefruit oil
  • A natural diuretic (supports kidney function)
  • Beneficial for helping to dissolve cellulite
  • Helps to detoxify lymphatic system (where edema fluids build up)
Tangerine oil

  • Hydrates cells when taken internally (Report from Nova Vita Young Living Clinic, Ecuador)
  • Helps calm nervous system (fights against cravings and food addictions)

Ocotea oil

  • Encourages weight loss by helping to balance the pituitary and endocrine systems
Stevia Leaf Extract

  • Regular ingestion decreases sugar cravings and the desire for fatty foods.

Peppermint Oil
In addition to citrus oils contained in Slique™ Essence Blend, science has shown that other essential oils promote healthy weight loss, too. Dr. Alan Hirsch, M.D. discovered during his studies at the University of Chicago that inhalation of therapeutic grade peppermint oil satisfies the brain's satiety center where food cravings originate. His research revealed that peppermint oil stimulates the hypothalamus gland to curb appetite. Peppermint oil also improves--even restores the sense of "taste" by stimulating the trigeminal nerve.
NOTE: Peppermint Oil is included with your Young Living Start Living wholesale membership!

Idaho Balsam Fir Oil
When inhaled, the unique constituents in this distinctive therapeutic oil enhance the production of hGH (human growth hormone) and reduce deadly levels of cortisol in the body. Excessive cortisol levels hold fat in the cellular structure, making it difficult to lose weight. hGH slows the aging process which is conducive to healthier weight levels.

ABOUT CHAPLAIN ROYAL…
Royal D. Bush was born and raised in the Omaha metro area raised in a single parent family, with his Mother Mildred.  His first many years of life were spent in Bellevue, where he and his mother attended church at the First Baptist Church of Bellevue.  Eventually Omaha became home, where as a young adult, Royal began attending various worship services with friends and family before finally calling MCC Omaha his home, where he went on to serve as Minister of Hospitality.

In 2009, Royal founded Inclusive Life; Pastoral Services and Holistic Care; a Nebraska, nonprofit, multifaith based organization that offers care and services to individuals, couples and families who are not a part of church, organized religion, or have a religious belief.
