A lack of water makes our blood become thicker and thus it can transport less oxygen. Since our brain needs sufficient oxygen to operate in an optimal way, this very clearly affects our brain functions: Already a deficit of only half a percent of our body weight leads to concentration decreases and we feel tired and drained (e.g. with a weight of 60 kg, this is only 0.3 l). If the imbalance of the fluid level gets even higher, this can cause headaches and dizziness. In times of high stress, it is especially important to drink a lot, because stress triggers reactions in our bodies, which dehumidify additionally.
In order to supply your body with enough liquid, you should drink at least 2 liters of water per day; preferably tap water or mineral water, ideally non-carbonated. Place your daily amount of water within reach, in front of you, so that you do not forget to drink.
For those reading this, be grateful that you live in a country that you have access to and can afford clean drinking water; millions of people do not.
We can be the change we seek in
this world, and in ourselves. One day. One journey.
One person. One or two liters of
water at a time.
