Life

In our life journey we make choices and are a part of choices that were made with us, for us and without us.  It is right to remember the names of those who inspired us, gave us strength, loved us and gave us light to see.  They have become a part of the tapestry of our life and with them we have a more meaningful life.
It has been said that people (friends, family, co-workers, faith family, neighbors…) come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime.  The focus should not be on who is staying and why or who is leaving and why.  The focus should be on learning, sharing and caring with those around you.  When it is their time to go or your time to move on it will happen.
This weekend two friends of mine had to say goodbye to family members.  A reminder I share with everyone is that you have permission; you have a blessing you have the right to smile, live and laugh.  Grief is a cycle that we all certainly will share and go through when death occurs AND through that journey we must be reminded (and sometimes be given permission) that it is healthy, healing and appropriate to recall fond times, good times, loving times, funny times.  It is okay to tell jokes and feel good despite the difficult circumstances.
I offer this prayer today for us all… “May the blessing of truth, love and life be with us all in a time of loss.  May we hold on to what is good, what we believe, and what we must do.  Let us hold on to one another in these times for strength, love, community and life.  May we be reminded that sorrow will one day turn to joy and that all the breaks of the heart will be mended with peace and understanding.  Now, may we all go in peace, love abundantly, live simply, and be gentle with one another.  Amen”

I can be the change I seek in this world…  I remember that life is next to me, besides me, above me and below me, it is always with me.
