Forgiveness

Forgive and forget.  HA!  Like we do that as a city, state, region, country, world, or culture.  To one would be pretty incredible, to do both would be considered short of a miracle!
When was the last time you forgave someone or allowed yourself to forget any wrong, mistakes, bad times, or trespasses they had with you?  Do you remember how you felt?  The power, liberation, lifting of weight, goodness, and peace that many feel from that moment is just incredible.
Now let's focus a bit more.  Let's talk about YOU!  The mistakes you have made.  The things you have said, that you wished you hadn't.  All those promises to yourself to do this or that, or get this done.  And those new years resolutions... HA!  Right.  As if you had any intention of following through on those.  One broken promise or commitment after another.
Thinking of how we felt when we forgave-forgot verses how we feel about ourselves, two different feelings (for some.)  How do you feel, right now, comparing the two?
Can you imagine how much better you would feel if you simply forgave yourself?  That's right, YOU forgive YOU!  Close your eyes and go back to a time when you forgave someone.  That feeling of warmth, freedom, liberation, safety, closeness, wholeness...  a warm blanket on a cold day.
Let's get "real" for a moment.  You are a human being.  With all of your mistakes, achievements, life experiences you...are you.  And mistakes, disappointments and "life" are all part of our journey.
We don't know what the person next to us has went through, is going through, or is about to go through, nor do they know us.  How we interact, respond to and behave is sometimes in character, out of character and sometimes somewhere in between.
You are beautiful
You are loved
You are worthy
You are not alone
Give yourself a hug.  Forgive yourself.  Be free of self condemnation.

Holistic Health

How do YOU define health/healthy?

For me, it has taken nearly 46 years of life to learn “I don’t know, what I don’t know!” AND I have learned a thing or two.  I would like to share that with you.

Most city water is bad for you.  Omaha is the 7th worst (click here to see check out your city.)  In fall of 2013, we installed an RO (reverse osmosis-5 stage water filter drinking water system.)  We do NOT drink city water unless are forced to.  And when we bathe, we only do so using baking soda (will help naturalize the harmful chemicals that are added.)

We rarely purchase or consume man-made frozen food items.  They are full of harmful GMO’s, preservatives, toxins, and harmful chemicals.  Not to mention a lack of healthy nutritional benefit.

We have reduced as much pharmacology items as possible.  It is an industry that is self-regulated and has more control of the FDA through lobbying efforts.  If you need them, take them.  Use them as least as possible.

Most household cleaners are made up of toxic, unnatural, and harmful chemicals.  Would you drink any of the cleaners or items you have under your sink?  I would, mine!  There are many natural substances that are VERY safe, just as effective (both cost and ability.)

Toothpastes, deodorant, soaps are all items that also contain unhealthy and toxic chemicals.  We have switched to items that are natural, organic and safe.

Movement, exercise is just not a way to lose weight-it is a way of life, it is what you MUST do to survive and enjoy a healthy life.  For some you need to exercise at least 30 times per week for at least 30-40 minutes.  For many others it is simply incorporating walking more often (further in parking lot, longer in store, using stairs, walking during lunch break, etc.)  make the most of what you can do, where you’re at when you can.

Remember, for most of us, we spent about 12 years of our life in primary school with structured movement/gym most of the year for those 12 years.  When you graduate, there is no more structure unless YOU do it.  Remember no one can do it for you, you must do it yourself.  DO IT, DO IT NOW!  Tomorrow is not a day promised to any of us.

HOLISTIC CARE
The key for us all to remember is that our bodies have healing powers by using natural holistic modalities which include: clear water, healthy foods, pure sunlight, plenty of rest and regular exercise/movement.

Not all grocery stores are created equal.  Each has products they are paid more to display.  The “natural” grocers do the same!  Again, read labels, be a smart consumer, user and self advocate!  I recommend:

Sunday Message

inclusive life pastoral services holistic care wedding chapel
A couple of my most used quotes are "to the world you may only be one person, to one person you may be the world", and "you are the author of your own life story, what are you writing?"  I believe that they really say a lot about what we do, how we do it, and who we do it with.
I recall a story that goes along with this message.  An old man was going for a walk on the beach, when he noticed a little boy feeding a thin, shaggy looking dog with bits of bread.
He went up to the boy and asked him why he was sharing his bread with the dogs.  The little boy answered, "Because they have nothing. No home, no family, and if I don’t feed them they will die."

“But there are homeless dogs everywhere," the old man replied. “So your efforts don’t really make a difference”   The little boy looked at the dog and stroked him. “But for him, for this little dog, it makes all the difference in the world.”
So many times animals and our connection to them teach us human so very much about the beauty of life in its' most simplest form.  It is "we" humans that seem to change our behavior when influenced with money, power, and greed; simply look at the state of affairs in our own country.  Our government leaders are corrupt with money, power, and greed.  Private industry certainly is.  The trickle down affect to the person in which this money is being made seems to get smaller and smaller, less and less each year.  The middle class is all but gone in the USA.
What is the focus in your life?  Do you look out for others who have less than you?  Do you look out for others who are suffering?  Do you share your time, resources, and passion to help others?  How do you pay yourself and keep your mind, body, spirit centered with health, peace, love, and compassion?
In the story are you the old man, the boy or the dog.  Or, are the piece of bread?  There is much work to be done in this world to bring peace, love, and compassion.  It starts with one connection at a time; yourself.  Then someone else, then you and someone help two more people, then you four help four more...
You can make a difference.  You can be a difference.  You can be different.  You can do it differently

2013 Grateful Recap

Since the beginning of 2013 I have shared a photo and word that represents what I am grateful for and brief message.  I now have 53 weeks of being grateful.  Today I share a list of what I was grateful for each week.

Interestingly, the “most-used” words were (tied) relationships and community.  I didn’t even realize that I had duplicated some, so many times.  As I read each one, a few brought tears to my eyes: mom, family, and husband.

If you are reading this we are connected… by more than just text, email or social media.  I reassure each person you are not alone and end 2013 with some of my favorite words…

YOU are beautiful YOU are loved YOU are worthy just as YOU are.  You are not alone.
YOU are the author of your life story.
To the world YOU may only be one person.  To one person YOU may the world.
YOU may not get what YOU want when YOU want it.  YOU will get what YOU need when YOU need it.
May peace, love, and compassion be with YOU.  And always from YOU!

Happy New Year to each of you.  May the best of 2013 be the worst of your 2014.
